Differentiation with Technology

How technology will be used within the lesson plan National Geographic Kids will be used for its visuals of photos, videos, and information on different countries around the world. Students will explore these visuals while connecting it to the skill being focused on that day in the unit. Since we are focusing on words with the short e sound on day one, students will find countries on the list that include that sound and explore where it is on the map and discuss the photos and information shared. Newsela will be used for its leveled texts that feature great discussion topics and comprehension activities. On day two of the unit, students are focusing on differentiating between the short and long e sounds, so students will be on the hunt for those as we read. The great thing about Newsela is that you can adjust the reading level of the text so students can have a better understanding of what they are reading. The Peace Corps Global Connections program will be used for the final...

Designing a Differentiated Lesson Plan Reflection

Evaluating and Choosing Instructional Strategies to Differentiate for and Engage Diverse Students Readiness differentiation is aimed to provide support students need to succeed at a new level of challenge towards specified knowledge, understanding, and skills (Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, 2011). I planned for student readiness in this lesson by making careful selections on the texts that were read since the texts were an integral part of this learning objective. By choosing a text that all students were familiar with during the representation portion of the lesson, it allowed the focus to be on the skill being taught rather than trying to focus on understanding the text. The other reading selections that were chosen throughout the lesson were differentiated by difficulty level. Differentiating by interest targets to engage attention, curiosity, and involvement to enhance motivation to learn throughout a lesson and make connections between new inform...

Learning Styles Analysis

Learning Styles Inventory Data Data Analysis Interconnection of Learning Styles and Development There is an interconnection between learning styles and cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and physical development because they are all domains of child development, and one often impacts other areas and highlights each area’s importance (National Association for the Education of Young Children, n.d.). Learning styles impact student learning, which in turn impact these developmental domains in different ways. For example, instructional approaches that lean towards the visual learning style can impact cognitive development, linguistic, social, and emotional development can be promoted through a more auditory learning style, and a kinesthetic learning style can impact physical development. Although students do have preferences of learning styles, they utilize all of them at different points leading to all-around development. How Learning Styles Affect Planning Learning styles ar...

Assessing Technology-Based Resources for Differentiation

Image
Differentiating instruction through technology platforms can be a strategic and purposeful way to meet students’ needs in the classroom. There are different areas in which lessons can incorporate such tools to support differentiation through the content, process, and product (Cypher Learning, 2020). The three technology tools I will be reviewing below are targeted for each of these lesson parts and the ways in which differentiation can be applied. Quizizz   ·       Description : Quizizz is versatile in the way that it can be used to deliver instruction and assess. With its game-like features, it is sure to maintain engagement through its lesson, interactive video, comprehension, or quiz components. ·       Breakdown : Quizizz provides a ready-made library of activities that can be used for live lesson instruction, group or individual practice, assessments, presentations, test prep, exit tickets or bell ringers...
